Working on a Commercial Shoot

Sorry for not writing in forever. I have been concentrating on my Doll Blog. I will try to pop in here more often!

I had a very special experience recently, and I have been super busy and quite exhausted so haven’t gotten around to writing about it until now.

I was asked to work as a ‘doll stylist’ on a commercial shoot for American Girl and Wellie Wishers dolls. I had to stay on set for almost 14 hours each day, making sure that the dolls that were featured in the commercial looked beautiful.

I had to ensure that their hair and clothes were looking wonderful for the camera. It was a very cool experience! The commercials will probably not be on the air until 2017. I will let you know if I get any more information on where to watch the commercials when they are released!

After speaking with some other people on set, I found out I could work on Barbie, Monster High, Cabbage Patch, and other commercials that require doll styling. I really think that would be a great job! Have you ever worked on a commercial set? What did you enjoy most about it?

The Big Sigh

Seems all I do lately is let out big *sigh*’s all day long.

I’ve recently started doing a day job as a customer service rep for a wireless phone company, and needless to say it is not the most stimulating or joy-inducing of jobs in my experience so far.

It is a totally new working experience for me, and although I do enjoy some aspects of it, right now it seems the negatives are outweighing the positives.

Have you ever worked in this area and if so what are your thoughts on it? How long did it take you after your first foray into the world of telephone customer service to feel like you really knew what you were doing?

I am still doing my writing part time, and luckily have a fun gig coming up soon. 🙂

Dedicated to Sandy Hook Elementary Victims

Last night my boyfriend and I were decorating a little gingerbread house village. While we were doing it I was silently thinking about the little one’s who were sadly taken away from the world last Friday. Did they get to make a gingerbread house this year before Friday happened? I’m sure the teacher’s who were killed enjoyed doing fun Christmas activities like this with the kids at school, too. I know as a preschool teacher, Christmas was one of the times I had the most fun at work with the kids. When Sandy Hook happened, I thought of my old preschool students and imagined them in that situation. Horrible.

I’ve decided my Gingerbread town will be dedicated in memory of all the Sandy Hook victims, students and teachers alike. Your lives have meaning, and your memory will live forever in so many hearts and minds around the world.

Whenever I eat a piece of this Gingerbread I will think about you, and hope that you are at peace wherever you are now.

Runaway

The title of this blog post has nothing to do with the post itself. I was listening to “Runaway” by Del Shannon (one of my favorite songs from the 60’s), so that’s what came out when I started typing in the Title box. 🙂

Today I woke up earlier than usual. This was because my boyfriend came into the bedroom asking quite loudly, “Where’s the Orajel, hun?”

I knew I remembered saying goodbye to him already this morning, and when I rolled over and looked at the clock I realized if he was getting ready for work he was going to be late at that point. After getting out of bed and finding the orajel, he told me he had already been on his way to work and had to turn around because he had a toothache so bad that he could hardly keep his eyes open to drive.

A couple hours and a couple hundred dollars later, he had a badly decayed tooth pulled out, and is now thankfully feeling better.

He is the strongest guy I know, and it was so strange to see him in such pain. I’m glad we managed to get him into the dentist quickly. Gotta get him on my dental plan soon.

Hope everyone had a good day. 🙂 Brush your teeth!

Working at home

I am officially working from home today. It feels great to say that!

I finally got my first “real” writing gig with a company, and am starting to write some articles for them about different topics. Today’s articles are mostly real estate related stuff. It’s so exciting to know that I will actually be getting paid to do something I enjoy.

I just finished writing my first article for this company a few minutes ago, and have four more to go for today. It’s actually really fun doing the research and learning about topics I don’t often think about (such as real estate, LoL).

My dream, which has changed a million times over the last few years, is now to be able to make an income working primarily from home, so when I do have a baby in the future (which I plan on soon!) I will be able to stay home with them and still provide for them without completely relying on my boyfriend, Jay. He is amazing and works so hard. I would hate for him to feel like all the money stuff is on his shoulders alone.

I really hope this writing thing works out and becomes something I can rely on and enjoy for the rest of my life.

What do you do for work? Do you love it, or hate it, or neither? What would you do if you could choose any job in the world and make tons of money doing it? Let me know in the comments. 🙂
